The colour purple dominates M.V. Prasad’s house. It is everywhere: in his courtyard, kitchen, packing area, car and even his bike looks purple. The reason is that his prized crop of purple sweet potatoes is packed in purple and scattered throughout his home.
This is no ordinary humdrum sweet potato. It’s a biofortified, nutrient-rich wonder. It now sells in Bengaluru’s premium stores at between Rs 200 and Rs 2,000 per kilo under the Prasad family’s brand name, Sweet Pot, with the tagline ‘Simply Super Food’.
